Hello!
Someone once told me that if I ever wanted to succeed in business, I needed to fit the mould of a strong leader. I needed to lose the long hair, stop wearing floral, exude strength, and not ever show my vulnerabilities. I went on to become a successful CEO, a speaker and a coach for women in leadership … all while wearing floral. That same person came back to me recently and said my greatest strength is that I didn’t follow that advice. Early in my professional career I started reading leadership books, but barely finished any of them. Either I disagreed or couldn’t resonate with the advice instructed. Some people may like the strict boundaries of the varied methodology advice that is available, but it didn’t align with me or who I am as a person so, after a lot of discomfort, I decided to forge my own style and realised quickly that the key to good leadership is actually quite simple…. Be authentic. There is no rule or recipe to follow. No methodology or boundaries. Just be you. Perfectly and authentically you. It seems pretty easy and maybe that’s all you need to hear. But, in my experience and in a land of corporate structure, politics, unspoken rules and competitive business it can be tough to navigate. Also, in moments of doubt, it's deceptively easy to listen to outside advice, opinions or bluster. This can lead to a loss of trust in oneself. Reading books and blogs and posts about other's journeys, we are tempted to compare, and adjust, perhaps just a tiny amount, but enough that we can no longer claim full authenticity. Maybe you march forward to the rules of the game but just feel a bit uncomfortable and wonder if there is another way. Perhaps you are feeling off course, too many small adjustments to fit others rules and you’re a little lost. Maybe you’ve been called to create a soul-led business, but you don’t know how or where to start. You could be an aspiring or existing leader navigating the business world, or you could just feel you need a little intuitive guidance or coaching in life. Either way, I’ve got you. Take a look around, trust where you are led to go and reach out if you need guidance. For here is a place to find solace in the collective of modern mystics and corporate way seers. Bxx |
